If you've made the switch to Counter Clean, congratulations, your cleaning cupboard is about to get a lot less crowded. But a few small habits can help you get even more out of every bottle, from cleaning performance to scent longevity. Here's everything you need to know about cleaning with Counter Clean.
Where (and how) to use Counter Clean
One of the best things about Counter Clean is that it's a true all-purpose cleaner. It's formulated to safely handle almost every surface in your home, which means it can replace up to 10 different specialty cleaners under your sink.
Use it on*:
-
Kitchen counters, stovetops, and backsplashes (including quartz, granite or marble)
-
Bathroom sinks, tubs, and tiles
-
Wooden and painted furniture
-
Glass, mirrors, and windows
-
Stainless steel appliances
-
Doors, light switches, and other high-traffic surfaces
-
Floors (diluted in a bucket if using on larger areas)
Because one bottle covers so many surfaces, you can stop buying specialty sprays, wipes, and single-surface products (and stop them taking up space in your cabinet!).
*We always recommend patch testing on any particularly precious surfaces.
Getting the best clean: product usage tips
A few small tricks make a big difference in how well Counter Clean performs:
Less is more. It's tempting to douse your surface with product, but Counter Clean is a powerful formula, so just a couple of sprays go a long way. Over-spraying doesn't clean any better, it just means more product (and more wiping) than you actually need.
Spray directly onto your cloth. Another tip to avoid using too much product is to spray Counter Clean onto your cloth first rather than directly onto the surface. This gives you more control and also avoids any product pooling in hard-to-reach cracks, seams, or edges.
Use a clean cloth. A cloth that's already loaded with grime or residue from a previous clean will just redistribute dirt rather than lift it away. Purdy & Figg microfiber cloths work best, and keeping a few in rotation (washed regularly) will give you a noticeably better finish.
Making the Scent Last Longer
Counter Clean's natural, essential oil scents are one of the things customers love most, and there are a couple of easy ways to help that fresh, just-cleaned feeling stick around.
Let it sit before you wipe. Instead of spraying and immediately wiping away, give Purdy & Figg a few seconds to settle in and work its magic. This allows the fragrance (and the cleaning agents) more time to settle in, which means a longer-lasting scent and a more thorough clean.
Rotate your scents. Our sense of smell adjusts to consistent scents over time, a phenomenon known as nose-blindness, which means a fragrance you loved on day one can start to be less noticeable over time. Switching between Counter Clean scents every so often keeps your nose (and your home) feeling freshly scented. Some customers even keep a few Bottles for Life on the go at a time, and use a different scent in each room of the house, so you’ll never go nose-blind again.
Rinse out your concentrate bottle. Make sure you get the most out of each refill by rinsing the bottle with a small amount of water. A simple and quick way to make sure you're getting every bit of goodness and scent out of that small refill!
